It was really when I found ISHTA Yoga, and started studying with Alan Finger, Wendy Newton, Peter Ferko, and Mona Anand that I started to find some freedom from my patterns of crash and maniacal bloom,
At least I found perspective, tools, and some clarity on what was going on for me. Sweaty asana, restorative yoga, and meditation were the first tools I found on my path. And now I teach those classes at ISHTA 🙂
What is the science of energy?
Everything is made of energy. Energy has different densities. And energy is always moving.
Yoga offers real understanding into the science of energy.
One of the principals is the laws of thermodynamics.
In laymen’s terms, that means, energy has to move, that’s just what it does.
Even when we feel blocked, stagnant, or out of control, there is a pattern that the energy is following.
There is a way to relate to the energy, where it doesn’t have to be reasoned out, or mentally understood. and it can still shift in exactly the way it needs to. Polarity Therapy and Yoga are the two most effective ways of working with energy that honor the principle of thermodynamics (in my experience).
ISHTA Yoga, and the path of yoga practice, and becoming a yoga teacher really taught me how to stop taking my thoughts and my feelings so personally. Not in an insensitive way! But from a place of deep sensitivity. And deep experience.
Yoga is a state of unity, and this one-ness or samadhi can only be experienced when the fluctuations of the mind are calmed. This state is possible for anyone to achieve. It just takes practice, and there are different ways that work for different people.
When I first started practicing yoga I felt immediate relief from the almost non-stop stream of thoughts, judgments, criticisms, fears, bad movies (in my head), good movies (in my head), and feelings that flooded my system almost constantly.
The first stage was physical, the second was mental relief. And later came emotional and energetic shifts.
Now in my practice, these multi-dimensional shifts are all happening, an I am listening and feeling for what’s shifting inside me, and in my systems.
Just being able to find spaces from the incessant chatter of mind, is huge, and allows a lot of new and unexpected magic to flow into a person’s life.
Accessing my own inner wisdom, and getting right with my truth, is something I continue to move into.
