So what’s the secret to happiness?
This is how I find it … today 🙂
I sit here at my computer.
It is time to write.
I have one hour today.
One non-negotiable hour.
And my first thought is ….
This is going to be the most brilliant thing I have ever written.
Chances are it’s not.
But I could also capture something brilliant.
Who’s to say?
You never know.
All I can do is the work.
I can do the work, and then find out.
Find out for me.
Get feedback.
Find out how it lands for others.
See what is heard.
That’s the funny thing about this work – this work of expression in the world.
I want it to only matter how I see it.
But that is not true. That is not the only thing that matters. No, it is not.
It also matters what I clearly communicate.
And what I’m learning about this work, about how writing works, is that what someone groks from my work, from what I wrote – is a very important thing – a very important part of my work.
Now I want to read.
I want to figure out what somebody else wrote, and read it.
I want to unpack the suitcase assembled for my trip tomorrow and agonize over the pieces in it.
I want to remove the articles piece by piece and contemplate do I need all of those pieces.
I want to cross reference the contents of my suitcase with the article on simplifying my life, I read this morning from the Simplify your Life series that I signed up for – for inspiration and market research.
I want to read the article linked to that email about the 10 essentials – a wardrobe primer on how simply dressing with 10 articles of clothing is a life-changing way to be happy.
I myself want to be happy.
I actually feel pretty happy most of the time.
Now.
I’m in a period of transition, I’m studying, assembling, listening, traveling.
I feel fortunate and rich and full of possibilities.
I might ask you, my reader, is this something you would also like to be feeling?
Or are you mad that I might have this experience, and you might not, and that makes you feel like you need to poke my joy to feel your own?
Or do you feel like your own joy and contentment are not possible because joy and contentment are just not for you in this life?
A look of concern might furrow across your brows.
My Big Idea About Happiness and Freedom
Did you know that thinking you can’t have happiness and freedom is really a thought that produces a limited state of mind?
The ancients, the yogis beleived that everyone has an equal capacity for fullfillment in this life.
It is within our capacity to connect with that fulfillment.
It is there for us.
If I told you that there was a key to the door in your mind- and that you can move out of any stuck stymied stuck place into a corridor of many doors and possibilities –
Would you want me to give you that key?
Because that is yoga.
I’d like to tell you more about the key to the door out of the stuck place. Can I tell you in a letter?
I send monthly messages of what brings me hope and inspiration.
Click here if you want to get them!
There are so many teachers and seers out there, who want to tell you all about what they see for you, and why you suffer and give you all of something they think is important.
How do you know which teacher is for you?
For me, it is a felt sense kind of thing. It’s a listening and feeling myself kind of thing that shows me the answers.
Thanks for being open.
Let me know where to send you more.
